There have been a couple of rules changes to GPS Speed Surfing for 2009.
1) Rankings will be based on "The Best Ten Second Run".
In prior years, Ranking was based on "The Average of The 5 Best Ten Second Runs".
2) The latest firmware in the GT11 and GT31 GPS units will display the most recent Ten Second Interval, as well as "The Best Ten Second Interval".
You can see your Speeds displayed on the GPS, for every run, and the Best Ten Second Interval, even before you leave the water!
It is important that Top Sailors have the latest firmware installed in their GPS units.
These speeds will be verified on the computer by the Time Keeper before posting to the appropriate Category.
The latest firmware for the GT11 is: FW_V162B1115

The latest firmware for the GT31 is: FW_V1.2B1405x

3) For 2009, the GPS Speed Surfing International Tech Group is working on an Official GPS National Ranking System.
This Ranking may involve the use of a (2) GT31 units simultaneously. This procedure would be for the very top racers, where an extremely high level of precision would be indicated.
Stay tuned for an announcement about this Dual-GPS requirement for Official GPS National Rankings.
The Midwest Speed Quest will provide single or dual GT31 GPS units to any interested racer.
